Meet the Calmer family

Simone Hamilton - Owner Operator

I was born and raised in the Illawarra. I built a career and grew a family here while caring for local pets. After a 20 year career in Vet clinics, I retired from Veterinary nursing.

Missing contact with animals, I found a new purpose in the creation of Calmer at Home. Originally my services were focused on opening my spacious property at Avondale to become a home away from home for many small dogs in the community. I provided a doggy day care venue and boutique boarding.

I realised I wanted to offer more, enjoying all breeds of dog and loving connecting with nature meant that I also started an active pet walking service.

I pride myself on offering high levels of compassionate care tailored for anxious pets and nervous clients.

My services are suited to any person that feel their animals are more than pets - they are family ! I have focused on specialising in caring for those animals requiring extra comforts, medications and special care.

My goal is to provide reassurance to all - both pets and their owners. So you can relax when your away knowing someone competent and caring is on the job.

My adult son Josh, has now joined me in this journey and assists with caring for the visitors to our home and I could not be prouder of his care & compassion for our little guests.

We are all committed to enhancing the experience and well-being of every furry friend we have stay with us and use our services.

Thank you for supporting my small business and we look forward to being here for you in the future.

In giving them love, I find joy in return — a very warm and rewarding cycle.

Josh - Daycare Supervisor and Friendly Dog Walker

Inspired by Mum’s commitment and love for nature and animals, I enjoy the company and antics of all our cute little visitors.

I’ve learnt a lot about dog behaviour care and things that make them happy.

I provide supervision of the dogs, play with them and care for the dogs that come to our home for daycare or boarding when Mum is out doing short adventure walks or providing other services to our customers.

The highlight of my day is going for a walk with our Bonnie and our boarding dogs, letting them enjoy following their noses and engaging with the environment.

Someone always wants a pat or a game or to nap on my lap.

I happily meet & greet our clients and furry visitors when they are dropped off and pick up and love that the dogs are often just as excited to be dropped off to us as they are to go home.

Bonnie and Maui

Bonnie is the Madame of the home. She is a 14 year old Fox Terrier X and the first official greeter of many guests to our home. Who needs a doorbell when we have a Bonnie.

She was adopted into our home at 11 years old.

She was a boarding client before her adoption, and when she needed a new home, we could not say no to helping her.

Maui is the handsome Prince of the home.

He is a gentle 6 year old Ragdoll. He was surrendered by his previous owner and has been a welcome addition to our family and home.

He assesses all of the dogs on their cat-loving skills and monitors the visitors from his safe zones.

He is very gentle and patient with all of the dogs that stay in our home.
